Clinical placements are a critical and meaningful part of the learning experience, particularly in programs for nursing and social work. However, there are a number of challenges that both universities and learners often face when coordinating them, including finding the right placements to align with learning goals and accreditation considerations.

We have the expertise, the resources, and the connections necessary to overcome all of this, and more.

Matching learners with the right preceptors

To ease the load on both you and your learners, our team will:

  • Provide access to a broad placement network

We have built a wide network of world-class preceptors. These are experienced practitioners ready and willing to teach the application of theory, across the country.

  • Provide specialist support wherever it’s needed

We will give you the support staff you need to manage clinical placements and maintain your database.

  • Create supporting resources

We will work with you to create a library of resources for both your learners and their preceptors.

“Before I spoke to Wiley’s Field Education Specialist I felt lost and not part of the school, it truly felt like distance schooling, but she immediately changed my mind and I felt like part of the school…Giving a helping hand to those who need it makes a difference, and that is what the Wiley team did for me.”

Preparing Learners for Challenges in Their Chosen Field

When it comes to placing learners in their fields, we have every step of their route planned and prepared—right down to the finest detail.

We will:

  • Identify and verify the right placements at the right time

We will automatically identify and reach out to learners who are approaching the placement portion of their program, typically two semesters before they are due to begin. We will verify they have completed the foundational courses necessary to work in the field. Then, we will work with them to set up necessary resources and materials.

  • Provide information and accountability to students

We will steer learners in the right direction, helping them through the process and holding them accountable during their placements. We can also serve as a go-between for you and your preceptors, for whatever questions arise.

  • Collate and organize documents

We will collect all the necessary documents (including the affiliation agreement, procedure verification forms, and liability coverage) from all parties, and keep the database updated as we go.

  • Handle both enrollment and follow-up

We will make sure the learner has correctly enrolled with their preceptors, and follow up with any necessary legalities. We will also attend any requested meetings with the field team.
