Employee Spotlight: Rachel Berry
At Wiley Education Services, we talk a lot about our people. Institutional partners frequently cite the expertise and collaborative nature of our people as a key benefit to working with us. So what does a Wiley employee look like and how do they contribute to the workplace culture? In this Employee Spotlight series, we sit down with Wiley colleagues across our four offices to learn more about who they are and what they do – both in and outside of the workplace.
Get to know Rachel Berry, Student Services Coordinator.
Rachel speaks with sincerity and passion when describing how she works to support students enrolled in Wiley Education Services' partner institutions as a Student Services Coordinator (SSC). Being in a role that emphasizes relationship building with students is special for Rachel. She notes that students often pursue their degrees on top of already busy lives, and having the ability to engage students in positive, fun, and energizing ways makes it all worthwhile for her.
Before coming to Wiley, Rachel worked in a variety of roles – from public relations for a non-profit organization and fundraising at a university, to teaching English in South Korea. Rachel worked at Enterprise immediately prior to joining Wiley.
When asked what career lessons she’s learned since joining the Wiley team several years ago, Rachel shared that she's finally become comfortable with not having all of the answers all of the time. She spoke about the importance of using one’s resources to find answers to the unknown, which is a valuable takeaway for colleagues at any point in their careers.
Rachel earned her Bachelor’s in Communication from the University of Florida and her Masters in Marketing from Florida State University. To answer the question some of you may be asking yourselves – she is a Gator through and through!
When she’s not slaying it as an SSC in the office, Rachel enjoys travelling with her husband Cory. The pair were married in March 2017 and their goal is to visit a new country every year. They have already ticked quite a few destinations off their list: Costa Rica, Peru, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Thailand to name a few.
Outside of globetrotting, Rachel and Cory recently purchased a house, which has given Rachel the chance to show off her green thumb. In addition to gardening, Rachel is enjoys spending time baking and hanging out with her two fur babies (cats).
