Like most college graduates, Eric Mobley’s path was unclear after graduating from the University of Louisville in 2017 with his Bachelor of Arts in humanities. Luckily for Wiley University Services, Eric interviewed to be an enrollment counselor and after graduation, he accepted the position. Less than a year later, he was promoted to application advocate.

Since then, Eric, or “The Disney Guy” as he’s known around the Louisville office, has grown in his role and now works with six schools. “As an ‘AA,’ I work with each school individually to process students’ completed applications and distribute admissions decisions to enrollment counselors.” While his work is mostly behind the scenes and not student-facing, Eric still cherishes the immense recognition that he feels from the universities. “I really feel that I am making a difference in people’s lives. You can always feel the gratitude and they [our partners] really love what we do.”

Eric is also one of the founding members of the Pride@WES Louisville chapter. This culture group focuses on awareness, outreach, and fundraising for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. He has taken on a leadership role in the committee and is passionate about organizing events. Eric recently led the charitable giving drive benefitting a local organization, House of Ruth, which provides housing and support services for people with HIV/AIDS and their families who are homeless, at risk of losing their homes, or need financial help.

When asked what his favorite memory is at Wiley University Services, Eric responded, “That’s a tough question. Almost three years of great memories! It probably is Day at the Downs in 2019 (a Louisville office tradition where colleagues gather at historic Churchill Downs for a day of no work, all merriment). Being able to step out of the office and have a great time with my co-workers is always fun!”

Away from work, Eric shares his love of movies, concerts, and restaurants with his husband of four years. The two also share a passion for all things Disney and have a membership to the Disney Vacation Club. When they’re not vacationing, they continue their fandom by watching Disney+ at home.
