Vice President of Business Development
Gene leads the team responsible for building long-term strategic partnerships with higher education institutions to help them more effectively attract, recruit, engage, and retain students. He notes that Wiley’s ability to impact the lives of learners through engaging education programs “is a responsibility we do not take lightly, and it underlines our approach to partnership.”
Beyond his expertise in the education market, Gene also has years of experience in technology solutions and change management—skills that are vital in the rapidly evolving learning environment. It’s not surprising, then, that he identifies Wiley’s learning culture as the core value he most relates to, citing “our ability to consistently challenge ourselves to evolve and improve.”
Gene has a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is currently pursuing an MBA from the University of Birmingham.

Before coming to Wiley in 2013, Holly gained a truly 360-degree view of the higher education landscape with positions as an academic administrator, distance education strategy consultant, and adjunct faculty instructor in Europe and the U.S. for employers such as the University of Pittsburgh, Education Management Corporation, and Pearson eCollege.

Owen brings five years of experience in bridging technology with organizational needs to Wiley Education Services. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Eastern Illinois University, he started his career in technology sales. Owen moved into the education sector in 2005 with a position as Education Territory Executive with Novell, bringing its solutions to higher education clients. Following stints to continue to support higher education institutions in similar positions at Moxie Software and CourseSmart, earning him a constellation of awards and professional recognition, he joined Wiley Education Services’ precursor, Deltak.
Today at Wiley Education Services he serves as a Director of New Partners, where he identifies and consults with potential higher education partners in the Midwest and Southeast regions of the U.S. about how Wiley can help them meet their strategic objectives, serving as an important point of contact and support throughout an often complex process. Owen feels personally fulfilled by assisting institutions that don’t have the capacity, resources, or financial means to expand their programming and not just meet but exceed their institutional goals. In doing so, “I have the privilege to work with some of the most driven friends and colleagues, who are all interested in the ultimate goal of helping students succeed. Everything we do is for the common goal of changing and improving students’ lives, which is something we all take great pride in.”

With over a decade of progressive leadership roles in student recruitment, Kelly has led teams to empower thousands of students to begin their educational journeys. As a Director of New Partners for the western U.S. at Wiley Education Services, she works to understand the unique needs of prospective institutional partners and build tailored solutions which provide exceptional learning experiences in an increasingly competitive landscape. She cites her colleagues’ “deep belief in the value of high quality education and an unmatched passion for delivering excellence” as the main reasons she is proud to work at Wiley. “Putting students and partners first is simply who Wiley is at the core. We listen and work to understand partner and student needs and then provide a tailored combination of innovative tools, data, and solutions to bring our shared vision to life.”
Prior to her current role, Kelly served as a Senior Director of Admissions, responsible for driving quality student enrollments at five of Wiley’s partner universities. She also led teams through the rollout and adoption of behavioral analytics technology and training, which continues to yield tremendous increases in student conversion across Wiley partners.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from the University of Iowa and a Master’s in Human Resources Management from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Sean was drawn to education because “I enjoy the opportunity to do meaningful work by helping educators solve problems and achieve their goals.” He brings 14 years of senior-level experience in education sales to Wiley. In the past, he has worked at Follett, where he was recognized as one of the top technology sales reps in the country, and Frontline Education, where he focused on special education.
He joined the company as a Director of New Partners in 2017, responsible for developing and presenting education solutions for prospective higher education partners, with a particular focus on the Ranku platform. He is particularly impressed by Wiley’s organizational culture and values, something he noticed during the recruitment process and continues to experience daily. “It is clear that my associates truly keep the Wiley Education Services core values in mind through their day-to-day interactions with each other and with our partners.” He incorporates Wiley’s emphasis on building a learning culture into his own individual experience by striving to learn something new every day, “which makes my individual experience meaningful and fun.”

One of the things Jerome appreciates most about Wiley is its refusal to rest on the laurels of its more than 200-year history: “Wiley continues to reinvest in opportunities and solutions that bring innovation, change, and growth into an industry that desperately needs to harness all three to be sustainable for the next 200 years.” He contributes directly to those efforts, working with Wiley’s education partners to foster new and creative learning experiences, with a focus on Ranku as a product offering.
Wiley’s core value of the very highest business and personal ethics resonates with Jerome on a personal and professional level. “I want to be held accountable for my actions, decisions and value to our education partners,” he says. “Their willingness to trust my advice or counsel as a business partner in representing the brand of Wiley is paramount to our ability for having long-term success.”
Jerome has a proven track record of providing consulting services and sales solutions in higher education. Before coming to work at Wiley in 2017, he held leadership roles at Keypath Education and the University of Phoenix. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Public Relations from Millikin University and an MBA in Organizational Behavior from Lake Forest School of Graduate Management.
