Matt Leavy

“We partner with universities to enable career-connected educational pathways that unlock potential for all students. The pace of change in higher education has never been faster, presenting an exciting opportunity.”

Matt Leavy is Executive Vice President and General Manager, Academic at Wiley. He leads Wiley’s Academic Publishing, Trade Publishing, and University Services businesses. In this role, he drives the strategy to deliver high-impact, career-aligned courseware, products, and solutions to meet the evolving needs of global learners and university partners.

Previously, Matt served as CEO of Pearson eCollege, one of the fastest growing and most innovative technology operations in Higher Education, and helped build the largest online program at a public institution with Arizona State University. Earlier in his career, Matt led the turnaround of Pearson’s Latin America division at a time of regional upheaval. He also served on the boards of UTEL Universidad and Safari Books Online.

Matt has an extensive background in strategic business development and has worked at the crossroads of education, technology, and services for the past two decades, reflecting his passion for making learning more equitable. Matt received a Bachelor of Sciences in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Georgetown University.

As Senior Vice President, University Strategy and Market Innovation, Deanna “Dee” Raineri works with university partners to deliver education that accelerates career success and institutional growth. She leads University Services with a focus on connecting education to meaningful outcomes while supporting Wiley’s mission, helping unlock the potential of universities, students, and society.

Dee has spent most of her career at the leading edge of digital learning. She has extensive experience developing innovative online and blended education programs and strategies for meeting the evolving needs of learners, including some of the industry’s first unbundled and stackable degree programs.

Before joining Wiley, Dee was the Vice President and Senior Vice Chancellor for Experiential Digital Global Education at Northeastern University. In that role, she focused on extending Northeastern’s educational offerings globally, increasing student access and flexibility through technology, and working with industry leaders to launch innovative work-integrated learning. Her experience in innovative leadership also includes serving as the Chief Academic Strategist at Coursera and Associate Provost for Education Innovation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dee earned her doctorate in biochemistry at the University of Southampton in the UK, and she completed a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Washington.

Group Vice President for Business Development and Client Management

As Group Vice President for Business Development and Client Management, Jay leads the team responsible for joining forces with higher education institutions to build long-term strategic partnerships. His goal is to ensure institutions are more effectively attracting, recruiting, engaging, and retaining students while preserving the academic quality and rigor at an institution.

Beyond his expertise in the education market, Jay has years of experience in the legal profession, where he developed skills that are vital when collaborating with numerous decision-makers at the institution and our organization to come to a consensus. Jay believes collaboration is the biggest value Wiley University Services brings to our partners, especially as thought leaders within our partnerships as it allows the full team to quickly adapt to innovations in our highly dynamic industry.

Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Mississippi and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law.

Jourdan Hathaway, Group Vice President of Operations, is a growth agent and a fervent believer in the mission to unlock human potential through education. She oversees operations across Enrollment, Retention, Academic Services, and Customer Marketing. She has spent much of her tenure working across our critical university services on large-scale initiatives that drive efficiency, performance, and growth.

Jourdan is passionate about talent development and creating a culture that encourages innovation and collaboration, recognizing that success rests in the power of a motivated and inspired team. She leads large diverse teams across Wiley’s departments to develop and execute against high-impact objectives.

Before joining Wiley, Jourdan was head of client services at an interactive agency that emphasized direct response digital solutions and software development. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations with a Minor in Marketing from the University of Central Florida. Today, she continues to mentor students from her alma mater and is often a guest speaker.

As Vice President of Product Technology, Sia leads Wiley’s globally distributed engineering and delivery teams. In this role, he leverages the deep talent and broad capabilities of the Wiley Global Technology team as they deliver necessary support and meaningful innovation for several teams, including marketing, student enrollment and retention, employee benefits, course development and delivery, integrated career development, and managed student placement.

Sia is passionate about delivering on technology’s promise to revolutionize education. He believes that at Wiley, technology, insights, and innovation are converging to power the next era of human learning and development. Not only is Sia committed to enabling and empowering today’s online educators, he is also dedicated to providing Wiley’s partners with the tools to engage and develop their most valuable asset—their people.

In his previous role as Vice President of Product Technology for Professional Learning at Wiley, Sia joined the CrossKnowledge Governance Team and led the integration and transformation of Wiley into a competitive global technology organization. Prior to that, Sia has also served as the Director of Technology and the Vice President of Operations for Wiley’s Workplace Learning Solutions (WLS). In these two roles, he led pivotal initiatives to reorganize the Software Development and Information Technology teams, integrate the Profiles International business with Wiley, and expand the scope of responsibilities for the WLS Business Governance team.

Over the past decade, Blaine Johnson has overseen the evolution of the organization’s OPM student recruitment. With the goal of providing the best student experience possible, his focus is on developing his team through coaching, implementing technological enhancements such as linguistic and behavioral analytics, and streamlining the student journey through the creation of resources such as a dedicated contact center. Under his leadership, the recruitment team has grown enrollments to more than 20,000 students across partner institutions.

Blaine cites Wiley’s 210-year history as one of the things that makes him most proud to work at the organization. But as much as we gain support from the past, he notes that an important part of his job is looking forward. “Enhancements in technology and the evolving student landscape requires constant change,” he says. “During my time with Wiley I’ve developed in my ability to lead people efficiently through times of transformation.”

Before coming to Wiley, Blaine was Vice President of Sales for information security consulting firm CastleGarde, Inc. and Director of Field Operations of The Beacon Institute, a company that specialized in delivering non-credit curriculum through a network of university partners. He earned a Bachelor of Science in journalism with a minor in business from Troy State University.

As the Vice President of Business Development, Krysia leads Wiley’s strategic partnerships with colleges and universities. Her team applies deep experience, market insights, and custom services to align university programs with learner and labor needs. As a result, she helps universities prepare more people for successful careers once their partnership with Wiley begins.

Krysia strives to help learners change the world in ways that matter to them. So, she finds it fulfilling to expand access to education through Wiley’s university partners. This work allows more learners to acquire the skills to elevate themselves, their families, and their communities.

Krysia’s professional experience spans multiple facets of education. She was the General Manager of Advancement Courses, Vice President of Curriculum at Learning House, and Associate Content Specialist at Pearson Higher Education. She launched her career in education as a sixth-grade math and science teacher.

Krysia earned her BA in Biology at Bowdoin College and completed a Master of Education through the Lesley University collaborative program with Shady Hill School. Previously, she was certified as a professional teacher in Kentucky, Maine, and Massachusetts. She lives in Crestwood, Ky.

Upon joining Wiley in 2010, Kelly Lewis-Pratl quickly discovered that the passion and dedication she witnessed during the interview process ran wide and deep throughout the organization. She is proud to be part of a team dedicated to the success of learners and supporting university and corporate partners in the critical mission of helping them achieve their goals to create positive change.

As Vice President of the Corporate Brand and Communications team based out of the Oak Brook office, her team leads the development and implementation of the brand vision, strategy, marketing, and public relations to drive meaningful engagement with prospective and existing partners. The team is keenly focused on relaying the value Wiley University Services provides and their commitment to offering demand-driven learning products and services that help partners support learners for the long-term. In addition, they are dedicated to building a unified and motivated internal team culture, implementing key initiatives that bring the company core values and mission to life to drive the success of partners, and ultimately, their learners.

Prior to joining Wiley, Kelly served in a variety of brand management and creative roles at advertising agencies Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Leo Burnett. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications and a Master of Science in Arts Technology from Illinois State University.

“To do our best, continuous learning and adaptation are required.”

David Migliorese is the Vice President of Academic Services and is based out of the organization’s Orlando office. His custom course development group works with faculty to create high-impact, technology-enabled learning experiences for an array of degree programs.

David began his career in user experience, then spent eight years working with faculty and leading teams in the design and development of socio-constructivist online learning experiences. Since joining the organization in 2009, David has built a team of world-class learning designers, media specialists, and faculty support professionals who share his passion for student‐centered, high-engagement learning. They have developed and manage a catalog of more than 2,000 distinctive online courses and are currently leading innovations in story driven learning, case method teaching, and faculty communities of practice.

David earned a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and a master’s in humanities from the University of Chicago.

Since Corey joined Wiley in 2013, he has applied his passion for performance-based marketing to help solve higher ed’s toughest challenges. As Vice President of Customer Marketing, he tailors innovative marketing solutions around how the student journey has evolved, enabling our partners to attract and retain more students. He focuses on strategic initiatives that power growth on each partner’s terms while advancing our mission to unlock human potential through education.

Corey believes that success rests in the power of a motivated and inspired team. This belief fuels his passion for creating a culture that encourages innovation and collaboration. In his prior role as Senior Director of Consumer Insights and Innovation, he initiated practices for creating innovations that provided value to our partners and their learners. Moreover, he has been a driving force for delivering seamless end-to-end experiences throughout the student journey.

Corey has more than 20 years of experience leading performance marketing, advertising, media, and branding programs for worldwide brands. Prior to joining Wiley, he worked for multiple advertising and marketing agencies, where he managed accounts and tailored brand strategies for each client’s needs.
