Over the past ten years, colleges and universities have seen their traditional economic models and societal roles challenged. States have reduced their financial support for public higher education and students have become increasingly wary of high tuition prices at private institutions,  while employers have voiced concern over graduates’ preparedness for the workplace. To put it bluntly, the public is questioning whether higher education is worth it.
